Vaginoplasty & Labioplasty 2022
VAGINOPLASTY
WHY IS IT GOING ON?
Vaginoplasty is usually performed on women who have weakened pelvic support and enlarged vagina as a result of multiple pregnancies and births. In addition, loss of pelvic floor firmness can also lead to uterine prolapse (prolapse of the bladder), urinary incontinence, and low-intensity sexual intercourse.
To correct these problems, contraction of the muscles around the vagina is done, which improves the tone and elasticity of the muscles. In this way, the posterior wall of the vagina is strengthened, which improves the retention of the perineal floor and eliminates the disturbances associated with this excessive expansion.
The most common reasons for vaginoplasty are:
Discomfort when wearing tight clothing or playing sports.
Dryness of the vagina.
Pain
Itching
Loss of sensation during intercourse.
Urinary incontinence.
RELEVANT RISKS:
Vaginoplasty is a simple surgical procedure, but with the risks of all surgeries:
Infections: In the event of an infection, it will be controlled with antibiotics.
Bleeding: There may be bleeding during or after surgery.
Hematomas: The area may be bruised due to surgery.
Temporary loss of sensation: sensation in this area will be limited for a short time, and after a couple of weeks it will return to normal.
HOW IS THE PROCEDURE CARRIED OUT? (TECHNIQUE)
During the surgical procedure, our surgeon will determine the amount of excess skin that needs to be removed from the vagina. Through an incision in the perineum (the area between the entrance to the vagina and the anus), the stretched muscles of the back of the vagina are connected and shortened with absorbable sutures and excess skin is removed. Due to the contraction of the muscles of the vagina and the surrounding soft tissues, the diameter of the entrance to the vagina is significantly reduced.
HOW DOES RECOVERY HAPPEN?
After surgery, you may experience pain for the first few days, which is very well controlled with pain medication.
It is advisable not to make large physical efforts, such as sudden movements or heavy lifting.
It is possible to return to normal life three to four days after the operation, although the total recovery time is three weeks.
It is important to wear comfortable and loose underwear to avoid chafing and discomfort.
Sexual contact should be avoided for several weeks (approximately one month) to ensure proper healing of the affected area.
The stitches fall off about 15 days after the procedure.
Despite the fact that the result of vaginoplasty is immediate, in which the area becomes inflamed in the first weeks, the final result can be seen only after a month.
LABIOPLASTY
Labia minora (the smallest inner labia) labiaplasty treats enlarged, abnormal, or uneven tissue that can sometimes be caused by childbirth, hormonal changes, or simply genetics.
Labiaplasty carefully reshapes and reduces the large, uneven edges of the inner lips of the vagina.
Labiaplasty can be performed in the following cases:
With a vagina, the labia minora is very large;
They cause discomfort during intercourse;
They cause discomfort, embarrassment or low self-esteem.
PROCEDURE
Deepithelialization technique: it can be performed under local, regional or general anesthesia.
The advantage of this technique is the reduction of excess vertical tissue, allowing the preservation of the lip flap, as well as preserving the sensitive and erectile characteristics of the lip.
Linear (edging) technique: This technique is the most popular. It is carried out by a longitudinal incision of the lip with the removal of an excess hyperchromic area (dark or hyperpigmented) and the convergence of the wound with an absorbable suture.
Wedge or “V” technique: This technique reduces the size and length of the unwanted small lip by making a V-shaped incision in the tissue of the lip, followed by closing the edges with an absorbable suture. The advantage is that the scar remains unnoticed, thus preserving the texture of the longitudinal edge of the lower lip and its appearance.
Oval technique: the central part of hypertrophied lips is resected and CO2 (carbon dioxide) is removed. Surgical laser labioplasty in many cases using a laser allows small reductions or correction of scar defects of a previous operation even without the need for surgical suturing or the use of fewer sutures.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE SURGERY?
Although recovery does not occur in the same way for all women, complete healing usually occurs after about 6 months, when healing is complete and the final result can be observed, however, small changes can be observed day after day.
Sexual intercourse should be postponed for 40-45 days after surgery.
RECOVERY
You should rest for about 8 days, lying on a bed or sofa with a pillow and wearing light and loose clothing.
Average treatment time: 30 minutes – 1 hour
Recovery time: 1-2 weeks
Recommended stay: 2 days
